A little thing about our bassist!

Pete joined the band just over a year ago now, but thats not the interesting part!

Our bassist is better than yours!

This is Pete…
Pete joined Millennium just over a year ago as this is written, and we would like to explain to you just how great Pete is!

Let’s go back to the beginning when Millennium was just an idea that a few members of the underground raspy heaviness that was Bring The Onslaught, (inset) The juggernaut hardcore metal band that claimed a good many years of the limelight from the now founding members of Millenium Cover band.

Unsigned heavy metal bands struggle almost their enitre careers to secure paid shows, and gigging is usually riddled with the anxiety of having to haul your gear into a tiny squueze of a space 5 mins before your set time, run the relay of ‘ The Change Over ‘ which has now been brought down to 3 minutes because the band before just had to play one more song, clamber your gear into position (which generally is never comfortable ), play your set as fast as you can and then do the same thing in reverse! All while being told that your payment, is exposure! Well F that we said!

Now the fun really begins

Fast forward a few months and three of the four ‘Bring The Onslaught’ians’ have got their shit together and hit the rehearsal studio to hash out some of their favourite pop punk and emo tunes from back in the day. We realised pretty quickly that we could potentially put together a pretty decent sized setlist of classic bangers that people may actually pay to see! But, we had just one problem…. we didn’t have a Pete!

Now the interesting thing about Pete is this…
Pete had never played a bass guitar before! Yep thats right you jheard that correctly! Ashley (guitars / vox) knew Pete from work and casually asked if he would be interested in joining our band, and Pete having a little bit of experience with a guitar casually replied “sure”… the rest as they say, is history!

Pete has made an astonishingly fast connection with the bass guitar, and the genre of playing that we have thrust upon him! His dedication to learning, and practicing has quickly made him an itegral part of the band and we grow stronger every time we rehearse. Our setlist has grown quite quickly and with the other three of us in the band, Matt, Ashley and Jonny, being more experienced, we have included some pretty tough songs for a beginner bassist! Blink 182’s ‘Don’t Leave Me’ springs to mind with that driving bass roll out in the bridge! A tune that I believe many expreinced bassists would striggle with, but not our Pete!

What lies next for the low end of the band?

Now that we have been together for just over a year, the progression has been quick and the learning curve steep, but the traction behind Millennium Cover Band is literally just getting started! Pete’s made it his mission to become a professional, paid, gigging bassist and by the looks of it he has all but succeeded! A few new bass guitars here, a new bass amp there, and a dedicated approach to learning new tracks that we can bring to our live performance, has made Pete an absolutely irreplaceable member of the band!

if you would like to see pete in action, come and check us out at one of our next shows!
